What are bases and nicotine shots?

Base and shot are the foundation of every self-mixed e-liquid. Together with a flavour concentrate or longfill they make your finished liquid.

What is a base?

A base is a mixture of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG). PG carries the flavour, VG produces the vapour. We offer bases in 10, 50 and 100 ml, for example 50PG/50VG or 30PG/70VG, and also with nicotine if required, in strengths from 3 to 18 mg/ml.

What is a nicotine shot?

A nicotine shot is a 10 ml bottle of base containing nicotine, usually at 20 mg/ml. You use it to add nicotine to a longfill or a nicotine-free base. In addition to classic shots, we also stock nicotine salt shots from SC and Overvape.

How do you mix base and shot correctly?

How strong your liquid ends up depends on how much shot you add to which total volume. An example makes this clear.

How do you calculate the nicotine strength?

The final strength is the amount of nicotine divided by the total volume. For example, if you add a 10 ml shot at 20 mg/ml to a bottle with a total of 60 ml, you end up with about 3.3 mg/ml. You can see which flavours are suitable for topping up in our flavour concentrates category.

Which mixing ratio suits your device?

For mouth-to-lung devices many vapers use 50PG/50VG, for sub-ohm devices rather 30PG/70VG. What your device can handle is usually stated in the manual or on the coil. Suitable coils can be found under Pods & Coils. And if you don't feel like mixing, simply choose a ready-made 10 ml e-liquid.
